Throughout the NFL, remaining free agent wide receivers have been flying off the board over the past week. The Kansas City Chiefs could soon be getting in on the frenzy.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, veteran wideout Zay Jones will be visiting the team on Thursday.

Jones entered the league with the Buffalo Bills as a second-round draft selection out of East Carolina in 2017. He has also played for the Las Vegas Raiders and most recently the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars released the veteran on April 30.

Since his release, Jones has been well-traveled. He has reportedly visited the Tennessee Titans (who have since added veteran slot receiver Tyler Boyd), the Arizona Cardinals, and the Dallas Cowboys. His father — former linebacker Robert Jones — was part of three Super Bowl champion teams in Dallas.

While the Chiefs appeared to fortify their wide receiver room last month by trading up to the 28th pick to select Xavier Worthy out of the University of Texas, second year receiver Rashee Rice’s legal troubles continue to loom over the offseason.

The 6-foot-2 Jones would offer a bigger wide receiver presence to cover for Rice’s expected suspension. Spending the last two years playing for Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson — a protégé and former offensive coordinator under Chiefs head coach Andy Reid — would also allow a quick transition into Kansas City’s offense.

For his career, Jones has totaled 287 receptions for 3028 yards and 18 touchdowns.
