Colin Kaepernick’s GF Calls Out NFL’s Double Standard Over Player Comments

Nessa Diab, the longtime companion of Colin Kaepernick, has voiced her frustrations with the NFL’s handling of the situation involving Harrison Butker’s recent remarks. The kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs became a central figure in media discussions following his speech at a Catholic college’s graduation.

Amidst a mix of criticism and support for Butker, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell chose not to denounce him, diverging from the league’s initial response after the speech gained widespread attention. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, along with players Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, have also defended Butker.

This response contrasts sharply with the treatment Kaepernick experienced after his decision to kneel during the national anthem, which many believe led to his ostracization from the league. Diab highlighted this discrepancy in an Instagram Story, suggesting that the difference in reactions to Kaepernick and Butker’s actions could be rooted in racial issues.

Her post expressed dismay at the support for Butker, implying a double standard when compared to the backlash Kaepernick faced for his peaceful protest.

A portion of the statement she shared labeled Butker’s comments as “sexist and detrimental.” Furthermore, it highlights a notable observation that emerged online after Roger Goodell responded to the controversy sparked by Harrison Butker’s remarks, suggesting, “The discrepancy in reactions speaks volumes.

It begs the question of how we can claim equality when standards vary based on one’s gender.”

Despite not having played in the NFL for almost ten years, Colin Kaepernick remains hopeful about a potential comeback. He expressed interest in joining the New York Jets, especially after Aaron Rodgers suffered an injury that took him out for the rest of the season, but his efforts didn’t lead to a contract.

At 36, Kaepernick continues to stay in top physical condition, awaiting another chance to play.

Regarding Butker, the kicker will face no repercussions for his statements and is set to rejoin the Chiefs in the next season. His return comes after contributing to the team’s success in winning three Super Bowl titles.

Additionally, Colin Kaepernick has openly criticized both Roger Goodell and the NFL for their ambiguous position on Butker’s controversial comments.
