The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has seemingly not changed his ringtone since 2015, the quarterback revealed
For nearly a decade, Travis Kelce has remained loyal to his cellphone’s ringtone, according to teammate Patrick Mahomes.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback — who is known for his on-the-field connections with the NFL star — revealed on X (formerly known as Twitter) that the tight end has kept the same shocking cellphone alert since 2015 after resharing a comical video of the ringtone interrupting Kelce’s on-camera interview.
“That man still has that ringtone,” Mahomes, 28, commented with a laughing emoji alongside a repost of a New Heights clip featuring what the NFL called a “terrifying” sound in a separate post on Instagram.
In the clip, the ringtone — a screaming R2D2 from Star Wars — unexpectedly goes off during Kelce’s interview after his brother, Jason Kelce, apparently calls to ask his little brother where he can get scooters while they’re in Hawaii.
“Being the little brother, I hate when I gotta be the more mature one,” Travis, 34, then joked to the production crew. “Guy’s been on the Earth two more years than me.”
Yet when Jason, 36, reviewed the clip years later, he laughed at his brother’s comment — and at his ringtone of choice. “I don’t think he’s even close to more mature,” Jason quipped.
This is not the first time the younger Kelce brother’s cellphone has made a cameo.
In a commercial for Campbell’s Chunky soup last August, the two siblings and their mom, Donna Kelce, touted the product while poking fun at the tight end.
In the clip, Travis and Jason were seated at a kitchen island when the former’s phone began to go off with a “Travis is a champion” ringtone — a reference to how his NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs, won the 2023 Super Bowl in February.
