The “I Can Do It with a Broken Heart” singer shared the news on Instagram
Taylor Swift is taking on another very important role — godmother!
The “Fortnight” musician, 34, shared a sweet post on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, July 25 in honor of her “best friend” Ryan Reynolds’ new movie Deadpool & Wolverine, out Friday, July 26.
In the caption of the post, Swift revealed that she’d taken on a new title as godmother to Reynolds and Blake Lively’s kids.
“Shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godkids’ sperm donor!” Swift wrote at the end of her post, referencing Reynolds’ character Deadpool’s real name.
Lively and Reynolds are parents to four kids — daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, and another child named Olin, whom they welcomed in February 2023. They have not revealed the sex of their youngest child.
Swift is also godmother to close friend Jaime King’s son Leo Thames, 9. King previously explained to PEOPLE about the decision to name Swift Leo Thames’ godmother.
“It wasn’t because it was this person and the name. It was really because of her morals and her values, the way that she treats people and how hard-working she is. … That’s the kind of person I want to be the guide and the spiritual protector of my child,” King said at the time.
In May, Reynolds and Lively’s daughters received a special shoutout as the It Ends With Us actress brought her three older kids to see Swift’s Eras tour in Madrid, Spain.
Lively and her girls, who took in her performance from the floor of the show, could be seen jumping up and down and dancing along as Swift belted out “Shake It Off.”
Later in the show, Swift addressed Lively’s daughters in the audience. Speaking on stage, the musician strummed her guitar and said, “I have to say that on Folklore, some of my favorite characters are named James, Inez and Betty.”
Swift was referring to her album Folklore, featuring the song “Betty,” which includes all three of Lively’s older kids’ names.
Earlier that month, Reynolds appeared on the Today show and teased about the newest member of his family when Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb inquired about the child’s name.
“Taylor Swift keeps dropping it into lyrics!” said Guthrie, referring to Swift’s song “Betty”.
After Guthrie asked Reynolds whether the new baby’s name is anywhere on Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department, he joked, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name is, and I’ll say this: We’re still waiting.”
Reynolds has said that he and Lively kept their girls’ names in “Betty” a secret from them until the track was finished, saying in a SiriusXM Town Hall interview back in August 2021, “We surprised them with it.”
“They didn’t know,” added the Deadpool & Wolverine star. “They had no idea.”
