Casey asserted that people have the right to their opinion but Butker’s comments were derogatory and down right hateful toward women.
NBC Sports anchor Trenni Casey swiftly bashed Harrison Butker for his controversial comments on gender roles.
Casey asserted that she’s tired of hearing people say that everyone has the right to state their opinion, but Butker’s speech was downright hateful.
Butker drew public ire for his misogynistic comments during the commencement ceremony at Benedictine College in Kansas on Saturday, May 11.
The 28-year-old claimed that women have been fed lies about their roles in society. He pushed the idea that finding a job and climbing the corporate ladder should not be the only ultimate goal of taking care of their family.
Casey pointed out that Butker’s words would not have been out of place if he only spoke about pro-life and IVF, showing his stance on LGBTQ+ ideas. However, he went off track by floating views that not only went against Catholic moral values but also dehumanized women.
I strongly believe in free speech, [but] I also believe there are consequences for speaking out. But what I really believe is [that] there is a big difference between an opinion and dehumanizing, hateful speech.Trenni Casey said per the recent “Don’t @ Me” episode
She further added that people are allowed to have differences of opinion, but hateful speeches should not be tolerated. And Harrison Butker was spreading hate under the guise of preaching Catholicism.
“There is a big difference between an opinion and dehumanizing hateful speech.”
NBC Sports Boston anchor Trenni Casey offered a scathing response to Harrison Butker.
