On Sunday morning, August 11th, NFL star Travis Kelce returned to Kansas City to reunite with his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, following the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The reunion comes after a busy summer for the couple, marked by Swift’s international Eras Tour and Kelce’s preparations for the upcoming NFL season.
The 34-year-old tight end played his first game since the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 58 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in February. Kelce took the field at EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday, August 10th.
Despite the Chiefs’ 26-13 loss to the Jaguars, Kelce and his teammates, including rookie Carson Steele, delivered strong performances, keeping in mind that the preseason game’s outcome wouldn’t affect the regular season.
Ahead of the game, Kelce showcased his off-field style on the Chiefs’ official Instagram account, wearing a graphic button-down shirt, khaki pants, gold sunglasses, a matching gold chain, a “Superbad” baseball cap, and Nike shoes in the Chiefs’ red and gold colors. After the game, Kelce signed autographs for fans, including many of Swift’s admirers who had come to cheer him on.
The morning after the game, Kelce returned to his Kansas City mansion, where Swift had been staying since her concerts in Vienna were canceled due to security concerns. Swift had flown back to the United States after Austrian authorities foiled a terrorist plot targeting her concerts. The pop superstar has been leaning on Kelce for support as she processes the unsettling events.
Swift, who is expected to resume her European tour with five concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium starting on August 15th, will soon have to say goodbye to Kelce again as she heads back to the UK. Despite the challenges, the couple’s bond has only grown stronger, with Kelce spending much of his offseason traveling with Swift during her record-breaking tour. The pair has been spotted together in several European cities, including Paris, Amsterdam, and London, and even enjoyed vacations in the Bahamas and Italy earlier this year.
As Kelce returned to training camp with the Chiefs on July 21st, his focus shifted back to football. The tight end has been balancing his rigorous training schedule with maintaining his high-profile relationship. On July 28th, after a practice session, Kelce took time to greet fans, including Swifties, during an autograph session alongside the team’s offensive linemen and quarterbacks.
One notable fan encounter involved 16-year-old Hannah Calhoun, who traveled from Lexington, Kentucky, to meet Kelce at training camp. Calhoun, inspired by Swift’s influence as a role model, brought a friendship bracelet and a sign reading, “Travis, I have a spot open—put your name in here.” Kelce’s warm interactions with fans like Calhoun continue to endear him to both Chiefs supporters and Swift’s devoted fanbase.
Kelce and the Chiefs will wrap up their preseason with two more games at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City: against the Detroit Lions on August 17th and the Chicago Bears on August 22nd. The official start of the 2024-2025 NFL season kicks off on September 5th, with the Chiefs facing the Baltimore Ravens in the Thursday night opener at Arrowhead Stadium.
